Default Web Page - Off topic but what the heck!

Group:

Having nothing better to do with my time today (has something to do with the devil and idle hands! ), I re-did my web page.

Now, looking at it, I think I just trashed it up. Take a gander and let me know if I need to go back to the old page.

Thanks and take care - Elden

Since it is the first time I have ever been to your page, I think it is great. Heck I am lucky to get logged on every night let alone have my own page. Nice Fairbanks Elden. Good Luck with your page.

Elden: It's OK with me. I liked the sound of things reaching the appropriate level of stability .

Thanks for your comments. I guess I will leave it like it is for now.

Does anyone know where I borrowed the sound effect?

I'm offering a prize of a free kudo to the first correct answer.

Take care - Elden

You are either a young guy (if so, I HATE you for your youth ) or you didn't watch much TeeVee in the 1960's.

There was a city slicker goes to the country show called "Green Acres", starring Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor. One of the characters was Hugh Haney, played by Pat Buttram (Gene Autry's old sidekick).

Hugh Haney, called "Mr. Haney" on the show, was a huckster who sold all kinds of stuff to Eddie Albert's character, "Oliver Wendell Douglas". Most of it didn't work and all of the brand names ended with ......well (f'rinstance, the washing machine was called Washwell).

Mr. Haney sold a tractor to Douglas. It was called a Hoyt-Clagwell. I believe the tractor used on the show was actually a small unstyled John Deere.

Now you know. There will be a quiz later.

Take care - Elden

Harry:

Thanks for the link to the Green Acres site!

I notice the Hoyt-Clagwell in the pictures is actually a Fordson. I remember the tractor as having an open flywheel just where a JD would be. Did they change tractors during the run of the show or has my mind finally slipped over the edge???!!

Take care - Elden

The link that Harry listed has a FAQ section and if you scroll down a bit on it there is an item on "What brand of tractor did Oliver own?"

http://www.maggiore.net/greenacres/gaFAQ.asp

By the way, Eddie Albert passed away just a few days ago, May 27, 2005 at the age of 99.

Green Acres is one of my favorites (and I'm not that old ,thank you). I have the whole series on DVD. Another funny thing was the light plant/generator that Haney sold to Mr. Dougles. Everytime you see it,it is belching smoke and flames then explodes and quits. I have seen those shows 100s of times and they are just as funny every time!
