Default Domestic help

I have a 2hp Domestic with a PR mag and I would like to pull the head.To do so it looks like the exhaust lever cam must be removed from the end of the side shaft in order to remove the rocker arm bracket. The cam has a set screw which came out easily but there looks like there is also a pin through the cam and the shaft. Is this a tapered pin?Does it just drive out?Would it be better to leave cam alone and pull the entire side shaft with mag, rocker arm bracket and all? Thanks for any tips and advice,Chip

Hi Chip,

If you look close you will notice that the pin is tapered. The pin can be removed using a hammer and a steel punch while providing adequate support on the shaft assembly. Be careful not to damage the sideshaft assembly. The safest way to remove the pin while the assembly is resting on anvil after the sideshaft is removed from the engine.

Regards
