Photo Bessemer Headless?

I have another engine that we are trying to identify for sure. We think this is a Bessemer vertical headless engine. maybe a model AH? Serial? # 1875 stamped into flywheel.
The stamped letters J. M. M. Co. is stamped above the patent date of 1907. (see photos) Is this the maker's mark? Can't find one of these anywhere in the archives. Not sure what HP it is. Any help will be appreciated!

Dave,
Try Rob Kelly's page: http://rustyiron.com/engines/stable/bessemer.html
for a little Bessemer info & photo.
I believe Bessemer bought out Benjamin Middleditch around 1913 & stayed in business into the 20's & are quite similer to Detroit Engine Works, Columbia, Colton, etc. who used Middleditch's patents. The Middleditch & Bessemer engines usually had a door in the base. Look thru Wendel's Big Yellow Book at all above engines & you may be able to piece things together. Also search the internet.

Dave,
Also try Davis Family page: http://www.antiquengines.com/Detroit...oss%20view.htm
for information & engine specs on Detroit Engine Specs.
These engines very similar to yours with exception of base castings, I think. The engine specs page give bore & stroke, etc. which should help identify your horsepower at least.

Exclamation Re: Bessemer Headless?

Bessimer bought out Detroit Engine Works - Stationary engines. I believe the Detroit Engine Works Marine engines continued on to a later date.
