depends on brand. Gasoline takes some of em off, as does alcohol. you might even try acetone, but only out-doors! If you put it on, look at the box or container it came in, it should have removal instructions on it. If someone else put it on, trial and error is the only way to find out, sorry.

High temperatures will weaken and then burn the epoxy.

If you are talking about cured epoxy, try methylene chloride based paint stripper. It will probably soften it up enough to remove it if you time it right. You've got to wait until it softens but don't wait too long or the methylene chloride will evaporate, leaving the epoxy buggered up but no longer soft.

This has worked for several epoxies used in the marine industry, though I don't know if it will work on any epoxy.

Exclamation Re: What solvent dissolves epoxy????

Heat will break down the bond of most epoxies fairly easily, but be warned....do not use heat on any of the "super glues". I tried this once..got a sniff during the process and found myself on the floor gasping for air. Found out from a gunsmith friend that cyanide gas is released from super glue if it is heated. Scared the younowhat out of me...some of us have to learn the hard way I guess. It did break the bond though.

Methylene chloride will work but you may want to try regular lacquer thinner first. If the part is small enough, put it in a container and cover it with lacquer thinner. Seal the container and let it soak for a day or two.

I've dissolved automobile fiberglass epoxy that way.

Take care - Elden

Aircraft Remover sold at most auto parts stores is the only thing that will touch fusion bonded epoxy like what is applied to rebar. I believe it is methylene chloride based, but at a higher concentration than the stuff you buy at the hardware store. Make sure you wear rubber gloves when handling this stuff! Even a tiny drop on your hand gets unpleasant in a hurry - not that I would have any sort of first hand knowledge. Mike
