Photo 3HP Famous Finished

About 1996 another collector told me about this engine he had saved from the salvage yard. It has turned out to be a rather involved project.

The pics show some of the repairs needed. I saved the ignitor by fitting a steel sleeve and filling with weld. Down right mean of them cutting off the contact arm, but being forged steel it welded easily. Don't know why the air intake was sealed shut. The cylinder? I wish!! A fellow collecter in SC welded it and I can't remember his name

We made new bronze bearings, shaved the head, and replaced all plumbing. Bought a fuel pump off EnginAds site unseen, wrong type, didn't fit, no ck valves, inlet and outlet threads bad, $135 POS. But itsa pumpin now.

That got it running and we enjoyed it while searching for the correct pulley, muffler, water pump, and screen tub. Did yall know these water pumps wont prime themselves untill you take them apart and clean out the milling crumbs? LOL.

Its all finished now and I'm right proud to show it at Turnersburg this weekend.

Watch for me at Portland, I'm looking for another vert

Ralph, nice engine. What a fine job. It is a shame that you didn't have it last weekend, I would have loved to see it.

A nice looking job Ralph. I had a 1907 2 hp Famous which I sold a couple of years ago. They are a nice running engine. Dick in the dry, but just rained, Finger Lake Region of NY.

I have watched this engine run flawlessly all day long at several shows. This is just one of Ralph's nice restorations that he has brought back to life from a pile of scrap iron.

And the last I heard, Ralph wasn't going to Portland this year so this is a nice surprise. I will be at Portland from Wednesday until Saturday. I will be set up next to Newt and his big Ex-School Bus out in the vendor's field close to the back gate.

Paul Spence, I expect to meet you in person if you are at Portland!!!

I also hope to see Don Siefker, John Davidson, Ted Brookover, John Crist and Tom Winland just to name a few.

Maybe we can have another Smokstak meeting around the log cabin like we have done in the past.

I also hope to see you locals at Turnersburg this Saturday.

Hey Randy, I saw another Tucker engine just like yours at the Denton show last month. Will you be bringing any of that good ice cream to Turnersburg???
