Default Jacobson 4acre mower

I have a very early Jacobson 4 acre mower all complete. It was stuck when purchased, not because of rust but at some time it was run without oil. It had a large piece of the piston broken off. I filled it with brazed and sanded and sanded more until smooth but I can't find rings for it. They are 2 3/4 X 3/16. Any help finding rings?

Could you please post if you find rings for your mower. I also have a 4 acre. It runs but compression is low. I have not had the cylinder off to look at things for fear that the rings may be broken and then I would be forced to do something about it.

Dan Hodge, Otto Gas Engine Works does have rings for 4 acre mower assuming yours is the same as mine. Mine is 2 3/4 X 3/16 " rings. They said that they are 5.oo dallors each, you can get them 10 or 15 thou. bigger for the same price. Price for 3 rings is 15.00 dallors and 10% shipping, so total price 16.50. search for Otto Gas Engine Works for E-mail or geographical address. Dan S.

Thanks for the info. I have wanted to look inside this beast for years now. Does any one have a paint code for a 1930 4 acre mower?

I don't have a code for the paint but mine is kinda a silver and tan coloured. I think that the silver might not be factory though , it looks to be to thin a coat for it just flakes off if you touch it and underneath that is the tan colour.I suppose depending on where it went to it could have been re-painted.I read that alot of these went to golf courses, so maybe they painted them according to their other equipment. Just a theory. Dan Sheldon
