Default TOWTAPE Steel Towing Strap

Has anyone else seen one of these TOWTAPE steel towing straps? I've never seen another and can't find any info on it either. Looks like it dates to the 1920s. I got it at an auction a few years ago and thought it would be cool to keep in my Ford TT truck. I don't think it's ever been out of the can. It looks like new. I'm almost afraid to try and remove it from the can. It's coiled up very tightly in there. I can't imagine these were very popular.

I'll bet trying to put that thing back in the can would be as tough as putting smoke back in a computer!
