Default Need Caterpillar 15 info

I have a friend that needs some info about his Cat 15. He said it is hard to make out the serial number but as far as he can tell it reads PV 4027, so if that makes sense to anybody he would like to know the year it was made. He also said the measurements of it are about 9 ft. long and 52 in. wide from outside edge of track to the other outside track edge. If anybody can shed any light on this Cat let me know. Thanks

According to my book, PV 4027 was a 1930 model. Actually, that was the third tractor built in 1930. Cat Fifteens came with 40" or 50" tread widths, your buddy's is a 40" gauge. You can find more Caterpillar info at the Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club (ACMOC) website (I hang out there mostly).
