Default Caterpillar 22 oil change

The original manual states using s.a.e. 30 oil, Im assuming non-detergent would be the best on an original (non-rebuilt) engine. But the manual doesnt state how many qts.?? Also was there ever a shop manual for these crawlers, like a Motors of Chiltons would be, something with more detail and breakdown of all the components, troubleshooting and repair.?

Hi, Nevr-Enuf-Stuf.
As far as I know the 22's did come with an operator's manual and a maintainence manual. There was quite likely a workshop manual for them too but that would not normally have come with the tractor but would have been issued to Cat dealers. It would have been available to owners to purchase, either from the dealer or from Cat direct.

You could try keeping an eye on 'flea'-bay and/or other sites, Craigslist f'rinstance, for these manuals or post a query over at ACMOC for information regarding re-prints.copies of them.

If my memory hasn't decided to go on strike, the 22's did run a 30 grade non-detergent engine oil.

Hope this helps.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

I had found the operators manual online, http://www.angelfire.com/home/cat22/book/manual.html, copied it to file, the only thing the online version doesnt show is the fold out photo of a Twenty Two and its lubrication points. I also found out that there never was a "shop/repair" manual for the Twenty Two but that there was one for the Small Model Twenty and that it can be used for the Twenty Two. I joined the ACMOC, loads of great info.
