1945 ITE Breaker Switch on Slate - Info Help

This is a recent flea market find that I took a chance on buying. I don’t know much about it other than it looks cool. Not sure if it’s a desirable item but it looks unique. It’s from the I.T.E. Co in Philadelphia and it’s from 1945. It’s mounted on a very heavy piece of slate. Any info you could possibly share would be greatly appreciated.

I am also curious to know if this style is still or could be used today? Not sure if it would be up to today’s codes and standards. I am not an electrician so I am wondering how many people have seen these?
