Here is Don Selmer, Cottage Grove, WI, starting his (here I go again...) 30(?)hp Foos, Special Electric engine with wipe spark ignition. Don isn't a very big guy but when you KNOW what you're doing you don't have to be Godzilla!!! Just for the record is started on the FIRST compression and with those HEAVY flywheels took over 3 minutes to come to rest after shutting it off!!

Re: Baraboo show

That is a very large engine! Where can I find one... I need another project. What is a "wipe spark"?

Thanks

Look at the photo. The igniter is the stationary part with the wire attachaed. The crank part revolves a finger inside if the cylinder. When the finger hits and then leaves the igniter, there is a spark. Thus call a "Wipe Spark"

This setup is on our 50 HP Foos.
