I have 300 4 wheeler that I can't get to idle right, it either idles to fast if I slow it down it will stop running.

going to be a carb issue, take apart and make sure low speed jet is cleaned out not plugged also check for vacuum leak to intake manifold and tube from crankcase....

You might be at the point the engine is on the advance curve and speeds up. Careful tinkering of the adjustments will get it right.
*But first, you may have a gunked up low speed circuit in the carb. Take the carb apart and clean out everything.
