Is there a module that I can use in a double magnet flywheel situation. This is for a 1960 Briggs 5.5 (?) hp engine. Why do the number of magnets make a difference?
Thanks,
Alan

Re: electronic ig

B&S used to make a Magnetron Module converter for the earlier magnetos, but I do not know if they are still being made. That engine has a 3 pole mag, held with 4 bolts - correct? The magnets in the flywheel are weaker, and the spacing is different.

Re: electronic ig

Thanks, Andrew. Correct about 4 bolt coil. Back to the drawing board.

The STEN'S Mega-Fire module will do what you are looking for. The B&S Magnetron WILL NOT work with the Briggs coil that uses four mounting screws.

Try Pete's Small Engine Parts. www.psep.biz
One nice thing about them is they charge a flat rate for shipping no matter how much you buy (I think it is something like $5.95)
