Ford 1900 Hour Meter


I disconnected the drive cable at the back of the tach/hour meter and added some cable lube, then replaced it. The tach works great but the hour meter now doesn't work at all. How did I screw it up and how do I fix it? Thanks to all! :shrug:


I was taught to pull the cable out, wipe it and only lube bottom third. Concern was lube would work up into head. Could that have happened?
If all you did was to lube the cable and reinstall it, I doubt if you did anything at all. Sounds like more of an unfortunate coincidence to me, like the hour portion was ready to fail already.

A call to a speedometer repair shop might not be a bad idea. They might be willing to give you an educated guess over the phone.
