I have a Ford 555 loader, which has a leak in the hydraulic pump.
I removed the pump, cleaned it, and found all the numbers stamped on it.
Cessna 24505 LBD
I disassembled the pump, and immediately saw a small tear in the gasket that is between the housing sections. The rest of the pump looked very good. No real wear showing. I would like to replace the gaskets, and reassemble. However, I cant find the repair gaskets. I can not even find a repair kit for the 24505. I know that Cessna was purchased by Eaton. I cant find a cross reference.
Does anybody know how I can get a gasket for this pump?
I have considered using a longer O ring gasket, and doing an overlapping miter cut to join it again. Has anyone ever tried this?

You have a picture of the pump? I know a guy that stocks some Cessna kits and he is now a Ford dealer. I need dimensions for the pump on the inside.

Bikehead. you could try making your own gasket if you have any gasket material.

One major issue with Cessna pumps is that unless the dealer has parts, parts are getting very hard to come by. Cessna stopped pump production 25 years ago and no one has made parts since (per the local hydraulic suppliers I've spoken with). Depending on the pump, a replacement pump may be a better option?

I purchased gasket material for making new O rings. I will give that a try.

so here is the latest.

Looking for advise. I know there is huge knowledge base here.
I have a Ford 555 loader-backhoe. Awhile back, the cessna pump blew a gasket out of the housing. I repaired the pump, and put it back in the tractor. When I started it, the high pressure hose blew out near the crimp. I know the hose is old. So not so un-expected. Then I noticed, the pump was extremely hot. Almost too hot to touch after just one minute of running. That got me thinking, maybe the system is "dead headed" and that is what originally blew the pump gasket. Now that the pump is repair, the next weakest link was the hose that blew.
I am at the edge of my hydraulic knowledge.
I need to figure out why this pump got hot so fast. And I need to replace this hose that disappears into the frame running to the back of the tractor.
Could there be a stuck valve? I am not even sure if this is an open center type of system.
Any help would be appreciated.

Are there any quick couplers in the system like for unhooking the loader or the backhoe? Find the return line from the loader and the backhoe valve banks and see where they return to the reservoir. I f you have to unhook them and stick them in a clean 5 gallon pail when you start the tractor will oil come out of either hose?

check your hoses too. My AC tractor with FEL drove my crazy trying to figure out why it would work in on direction but not the other. one of my hoses was collapsing on the inside and stopping flow in one direction but not the other.

I did remove the drain plug out of the hydraulic filter, put a bucket under it, started it up, but no fluid came out. Maybe just a few drops. But not a flow. I am sure with 1 inch lines feeding this filter, there should be plenty of flow.

Lines are so hidden on this tractor. I can only see the loader external lines. The back hoe, are all inside the boom, and travel inside the frame.
I still dont know how I am going to replace the ruptured pressure line at the pump. The hose connection to the steel line is inside the frame.

Bikehead, What series of 555 is it. The older ones had a screen in the bottom of the hydraulic tank up by the radiator. It was common for these to plug up and you would have to unbolt the assembly from the tank and clean it. It would starve the pump and make a whining noise. That would not build excessive pressure however. In the stack of backhoe control valves is a main system relief valve if I remember correctly. It controls maximum pump pressure. Possibly it plugged with debris? Not sure how it would get past the filter unless a hose is degrading internally. Do control functions work at all when you first start it? Also, does the engine labor at this time? That's all I have at the moment.

I will have to check on the 555 model. It is very old. '70s maybe. The controls do not work at all. I think you are right, the engine is laboring. I thought at first it was just not running well, but I think it may be starting under a load, because it seems to come up slowly.
I will check the screen, however, I dont think it is starving for fluid. The pump is quiet.
I will pull apart the main relief valve. I need to get the seat out of the way. Its hard to get back in there.
You mentioned how would debris get past the filter. I thought the filter was on the return side (low pressure)?

I think you are right about the filter. The tank screen could tear a hole in itself from collapsing if plugged. I have seen this happen. I don't think debris would get through the pump without causing damage. I know how hard it is to get to those rear valves because I've been there. Keep chipping away at it and maybe you'll stumble on the problem.

If there is any quick connectors in the lines, check to make sure one hasn't partly disconnected. That would stop the flow real quick. Just a thought.

True. I dont think this tractor has any quick connects. It is a construction machine. I first need to wait till the weather is better. Its still cold and muddy where this is parked.

Hope this isn't too late in helping since I'm reading this a year later but here's my 2 cents worth. I’ve got a 4500 the older version of the 555. The backhoe valves and linkage were shot on mine and a bear to get at. What I did was cut out the floor plate all the way around the valve assembly and lift the whole mess out of the hole with a forklift.
In preparation for reinstalling the floor plate I welded flanges to the top surface of the piece of floor plate I had cut out. I then drilled a number of holes around the edge of the flanges and through to the existing floor plate.
Then after repairing the valve assembly and replumbing it as best I could I dropped the fixed unit back into the hole and bolted the floor plate back down.
I have used the old thing hard since then and it appears as though there was plenty of strength left in the outer edges of the floor plate so I see no stress cracks at all.
