I have pondered this for a bit and am willing to be a ringleader is there any interest in having a summer show of Hvid's at CPM? I would like to have a informal poll of possible amount of engines and namely different manufacturers of Hvid's that might be willing to come. There is nothing formal at this moment I am just seeing if there is interest. Thanks Kyle

How about some suggestions folks? I will bring them up at our next board meeting in a couple of weeks.

Thanks

well Kleins would be a good one but there are already quite a few there and they're so damn heavy to move!!

Canadian engines may not fly that well but there are quite a few of them out there.

English and other "across the pond" stuff would be neat too.

Has Coolspring ever featured just Otto's Chris or was that covered in the flame ignition expo

Just about fell off my chair! Don't spoil the pleasure of looking at the Coolspring pics for me. :(

I wish you got themed shows over here there is a guy who has a themed open day which ranges from blackstone, hornsby, crossley, tangye, gardner... all the boring stuff! If we can mange to somehow not have an Associated theme at our open day it may be chicago engines for us this year with FBM, IHC and Aermotors in the dominant positions, thats a proper theme  if you tried an American theme at a show over here it would just be doggy nelsons, fairbanks and amanco's with maybe a hercules as the star engine. I can't think how you wouldn't end up with the equivalent in America. Maybe pre-1910 should be a criteria, or even earlier CP need to keep the bar up right.

Yeaaahh, I guess there are quite a lot of exciting crossleys but they are not very often seen around. Obviously there are some nice tangyes too but they are a little numb considering the regular standards at coolsprings in my opinion. And I did mean it with an element of sarcasm ;) although I do personally find them boring :uhoh:

You have engines on both sides of the fence right, but which is your favourite? IHC and Stickney or Tangye and Crossley?

Don't worry , I meant it with some sarcasm as well!! ;-))
Been to Coolsprings a couple off times and it's a league off it's own...no way a private collector can "compete" with that!!
Favourite?
Hmm , hard to say!!
Really like our 20hp Famous and 12hp FM standard........but the 23hp Tangye and the big 94hp Crossley are very nice as well!!!

Now I must be honest , at Astle Park the rows&rows off "green" don't do it for me......

I just looked at your standard on youtube, super nice, are you going to bring that over for us to see or do I have to make the trip to neunen?

Sorry , you'll have to come to Nuenen for that one.
A couple off years ago we took 2 engines to Astle (25th anniversary)
The 10hp Stickney and the 25hp Beijers hot bulb just fitted in our truck.
But.....the ferry crossing was almost €1200!!!
Then add some €250 on diesel for the truck and it becomes a very expensive weekend!!!!!
If you decide to make the trip to Holland...you're more than welcome to pay us a visit!! ;-)

Back to the HVID subject....since it was originally a Dutch invention I say YES!!!:D
Wish we could bring our dutch Timmer prototype engine over for that show!!!!

I will have to see what shows it collides with over here, I would have come across to your open day this summer but it was the same weekend as Onslow Park which is probably the 2nd/3rd best show now.

I miss the Stickney that was great to see at Astle, I appreciate the effort and expense as i'm sure many others did. BUT If you bring the standard it will save you 700 euro as you won't be needing to take it home :)

Apologies for the diversion away from HVID's but I blame Jonathan :D

I think if we had to leave anything behind at Astle it would be our truck and we'd push the Standard home again LOL!!!
Anyway....HVID's at Coolspring would be a perfect excuse for another visit!!!!! ;)

Thinking of CPM featured engines.... I am sure the Ohio theme will bring a bunch out of the wood work.

2015 will be 20 years since the flame ignition/Centennial engine expo. It was probably the best display of historically significant engines ever assembled anywhere. Maybe it would be good to revisit that theme. I cant think of a better location to have such a feature. It will bring back many of the occasional long distance visitors. I know several people who are already making plans to attend the 2013 Nunen show that haven't been there for a while or ever - especially with the rumors of a slide valve feature, I wonder how many will show up?

It's always Jonathan's fault.:D

I can bring my Brantford Hvid and be covered with a Hvid and a Canadian built engine. Still working on the 10hp Sy Marys deal. This will be my first trip to Coolsprings.

 I just started saving to go to in 2015 :D I actually went to the flame ignition expo but I was too busy running around dancing and eating bananas to remember any engines. Thats right I used to be a monkey :brows: I was only 2! Dad keeps saying how great it was I figure that would be the perfect reason for another trip, i'm counting down the days already!

Geez guys, what did I ever do to you??

I like the 20th Anniversary flame ignition show!! That sounds great. I remember the show in 95 but only vaguely. We took the Ruger and it hasn't been home since, maybe it's time to take a new flame ignition engine down...

Ummm what about doing a Mietz & Weiss show??
or just early oil/diesel/hotbulb stuff in general??

Wayne, I think that would be GREAT IDEA !!!!!!!!! It sure was VERY IMPRESSIVE then. Some of the slide valves have changed hands since then. Big serious collectors from all over the States as well as their engines were there. Unforunately some of the well known collectors has left us as well.

Does it mean also that 120 year old engines would be the secondary feature or the engines that will be 100 years old in 2015 IE those built in 1915, either would be interesting IMO.
