FWurth, I thought you would know. It is an International, I thought Emeryville but I don't know. I think it has a Red Diamond 450 gas six cylinder engine. These trucks were DC Freight trucks. There were a few farmers around here that bought them. The guy that owned this one hauled sheep from San Angelo, Texas to Colorado and ran the truck on wheat harvest from Texas to Montana. He said you could take the dry sleeves out of the engine and put bigger pistons in for more power, but you could only do it once. Another guy had one that was a semi tractor.
Troll, we run Dayton on part of our trucks. You have to have someone that knows how to put them on a truck. I like the looks of the front wheels on that truck.
I would still like to know what model truck it is. We think it is an early 50's year.
Heins, the problem is that International, White Reo and others supplied chassis, engines and other parts to other companies as base parts to build their products. So just because it has some Binder components on it, doesn't guarantee it's a Binder. By the looks in the photo, someone took off all the bright trim and ID tags off for some reason. Many times the speedometer will have the logo on the face, has anyone looked there or is this a quiz for us. Trying to come up with a replacement wind shield for it likely will be the biggest challenge for anyone thinking of fixing it up.
FWurth, no, this isn't a quiz, I looked into the cab the day I took the picture and the owner wasn't around. I don't like to look at things when the owner isn't around. I did see some tags inside the cab but I didn't read them. I may call the owner up and see if he will let me look at it. I remember the owner that ran this truck talking about the engine. I thought it was an IH Emeryville. I wouldn't quiz you guys, would I?
The curved glass windshield is what has me stumped. Definitely not an Emeryville though. Emeryville had flat glass windshield, wing windows dropped down lower toward the front & the whole front of the cab had a slight curve to it when viewed from the side. The steel fuel tank pretty much dates it to mid 60's or older in this class of truck, but then I can't think of any that used the curved windshield until at least the mid 70's in this class. almost reminds me of the class 8 GMC & Chev. cabover of the late 70's & early 80's.......but still don't seem quite right for them either. They both shared the same cab in those years. :shrug: :shrug:
Ok, been doing a bit of searching on this. Maybe not a exact match but likely related. Found a pic of a Fageol Super Freighter. They were sold thru International truck outlets. They featured an International drive line, the cabs were basically the front portion of a Frueheuf van trailer, modified into a cab. Time frame would be late 30s thru late 40s. Not sure when Peterman changed the name and trucks to Peterbuilt. The Google reference where I found a picture mentions photos in Wheels of time by Dave Bontrager. The picture I saw was closer to the above, in that it was a wide coach like cab, no separate fenders, high on cab head lites, wide unusual windshield, tunnel like entrance to engine compartment covered by tall central grille. If I was any good with computers I could link to it but you all will just have to google it.

Man there's a lot of different types of Cab Overs built over the years. The earlier Fageol Super Freighter that I googld were basically a self propelled trailer. But reference is made to these being converted to tractor units later in production and early Peterbuilt COE's look close to our example. The fact that these used IHC drive lines is what catches my interest. The picture that was real close to above wasn't positively ID either but the caption sent me to the Fageol unit.
I just found it as well. It's a Fageol Twin Coach COE tractor 1954. Apparently sold through International truck dealerships. The IHC or TC emblem was in center just below the wind shield. They were built with the IHC driveline. And the picture I found was also showing a DC freight logo on the door. From what I read, the Fagelo Bros started their Twin Coach co after they sold the original co to the Peterman lumber co. Where that co started the Peter built truck co. Twin Coach then built buses and van trucks for the delivery market. Getting into road tractors in the early 50s. Was this possibly the seed for the Emoryville series? Learn something new every day!
