What are the earliest patents for the Case rear-mount traction engines? How does one find them. I used to have good luck searching the U.S. patents, but they seem to have made it very difficult, at least to my old brain.
When did the rear mounts first come on the market?

Someone else posted a quite lovely drawing of an early Morris engine over in my thread on Case engine generations. Didn't Case sell a few of those in 1897? Seems like there was a short period of oddballs there?
