johnson Utilimotor Coil Replacement

hi folks

I picked up another utilimotor
but the coils are shot, anyone
have any success installing another coil from a different small engine ?
if so what did you use
I have an order for one but he hasn't made any up yet
(its going on over a year )

the coil size is 2 1/4 inch accost
1 1/4 high
the center hole is about 3/4

The center lamination size is the most critical. You say it's 3/4 square? Sounds big. Can you take a pic of the overall mag? If you find a coil that fits the center and fits the space the other measurements don't matter.

I have always shaved the sides of core then cut laminations frome the other two sides to get a fit.you can add back any type of shim on the top and bottom as nessesary to tighten that up if you removed too many leafs.just make sure the sides are a snug fit first time around.

I am not having any luck
finding a coil that's close
briggs ,clintion ,lawn boy etc
any ideas ??
on who to look at ??

the old cloth coverd wico mower and outboard mags have the next largest core I know of. about 9/16-5/8. look maybe at old jacobsen or cushman coils.call Dennis Carpenter and get coil dimentions.he has coils.
