Hi All,

THANK YOU to those that have enquired about the magazine, I appreciate your interest.
Thank you also to Rob S and Chris & Henric Clemens for your kind words and support. :salute:

For those who have made enquiries, I have replied by forwarding an Information sheet which explains a bit about the "magazine". In all fairness, it probably does not tell you what you really need to know. My apologies for this as I usually speak face to face with interested parties who in turn get to have a look at a copy or two to see if it is to their liking.

SO, what's it all about....?

I am no journalist, publisher or literary genius, just your average greasy hands on bloke who enjoys tinkering with old machinery and sharing information related to old machinery.

The "magazine" is nothing flash. No glossy pages, just printed on "sand" coloured paper (to try give the appearance of an old newspaper look)

At present it is 40 pages in content. Printing and postage are the biggest costs keeping it to this size.

What you may/may not find inside.
]
[*]As mentioned there are "reports" on rallies and tractor treks,
[*]Currently, in serial form, the Brothers Clemens are telling their "Treasure in the Tree" story
[*]Readers restorations
[*] "Toolbox troubles" dealing with handy tips and help with restoring/repairing your old iron.
[*]Classifieds section for subscribers only. (Due to scam activity non subscriber adverts are no longer accepted)
[*]Club related activities
[*]Auction reports and
[*]Other items of interest relating to our "hobby"
[*]There is also a page of jokes to read for when your restoration project is getting you down. (Grab your favourite beverage and hopefully have a quiet chuckle and clearing your head of frustrations before having another go)

OOPS! pressed the wrong button :bonk:

So basically, that's it in a nut shell.
I understand and appreciate that this "magazine" may not be to your liking or taste.
There are a couple of readers here who I thought may have expressed their thoughts and views, but maybe they are too embarrassed to confess to being readers. :rotfl:

I hope this gives a bit better picture of what the Oily Rag is about.

Thank you for your interest.

Best wishes, jayvee.

I had a quick flick through Rob's copy today at Wooback (between freezing my a## off and chasing a machinery obsessed 3 year old) and was impressed.
I have a subscription form in my jacket pocket, I just have to work out which pocket.

Hi Patrick,

No need for the form, I just contacted them on the email address: jcvictor@bigpond.com

Just received mine during the week, very impressive. I ordered all the back issues - I have a bit of reading to do!

Wish I had of known sooner. Turns out quite a few of us didn't know it existed. Suspect there we be a few more subscriptions.

Regards,
Wayne

Yep got my first one yesterday, very impressed so far. I do like the joke of the drunk guy with the band aids on his rear, very clever.

jayvee,

Sounds like you have a nice magazine. Any chance you could post scans of a page or two please? Or someone else, with your permission?

I would like to get an idea of the contents, e.g. level of technical comment etc.

Would any of the readers like to critique/comment on the magazine for Peter? :O

Great magazine, uncomplicated, down to earth and informative. It also has a good cross section of information. Seems to me it is put together for everyday people by every day people, not the high flyers or elite people which a few other magazines I read seem to be concentrating on.

John does a great job with the Oily Rag magazine, very helpful with posting ads and gathering information in the register section.
At least the information is printed and not only on a website......
Got all the back issues a few months ago , the more word gets around about the Oily Rag magazine ,the more popular it will become.
p.s Thanks for the Christmas card as well John :)
