Can y'all make a list of Bill Stevensons names he goes by? I would feel much better if I got ripped off by a pro than just one of us

I got ripped off big time by a member of this site. I have a $3,500 judgement against him he refuses to pay. Still if I mention him here my posts get deleted. I do love this site but there are dishonest people on it too.

This is sad to read just a week after i almost got taken for 450.00 by a scammer, the hell with protecting them.I feel he should be caught and beaten ,get a few people looking for him,the trick is to break the hands, all the bones in the hands with a hammer,i promise that guy will never scam you again, pretty hard to write with smashed hands.Would be nice to see a picture of him to know who we are hunting down, why protect the crooks pretty stupid laws i say...they protect the criminals and we get nothing out of it,good job donut squad, keep up the good work,to serve and protect ya right.

Patrick Ertel from Antique Power magazine again. We are getting reports that the crook in western Pennsylvania is out of jail and in business again. He is not using the Bill/William Stevenson name this time, so I can't report a name. Please, just be careful buying anything with cash, money order, or wire transfer if you don't know and trust the person you are sending it to.

When you get wireless calls from who knows where with no number or name picked up by caller ID ask for lots more info if they won't give it I tell them go away not selling to them. Two weeks ago took my ads off Enginads because was only getting calls from scammers and caller ID finally picked up their numbers but no name and I ID them with online reverse phone lookup saying they were NY landline phone numbers. Caller ID was telling me wireless caller though ? Reverse phone lookups ID them as red flagged for numerous scams ! I told them email or text me more detailed contact info and we would work out sales to Canada where they first said they were from but were not. Never heard no more from them in over a week now. So be careful out there.

Well I aint the brightest bulb in the 4 pack but if the man is using fake names, then why would it be such a issue to post them?
What is being protected by not posting fake names?
Just wondering.
I am so glad to see folks take the time to post about scammers. God knows we need all the help we can get to protect ourselves from them.

just a heads up, I received a call from a friend who doesn't use the internet about a deal that sounded a bit too good to be true. as soon as he said it was in western PA I had a suspicion, a fast search showed the phone number he was given was the same 724-797-8536 number that has been associated with Bill before. This time he was using the name Richard Muldar of Harris PA with the same story of his dads 100+ tractor collection and just happened to have the exact parts that were needed from a couple of different tractors.

I think this guy contacted me a couple times in the last few days. I am not for sure it is scam so I won't post all the details. I know he also contacted a friend of mine in the last couple days. The area code and the prefix of the phone number were the same as what has been listed for him previously. Has anyone else been contacted recently?

I found this on another site.
http://gardentractortalk.com/forums/topic/29494-beware-of-scammers/

They mention he used the name Bob and that's the name the guy gave me.

Is there someone in that general area that can basically call his bluff? Say a grands worth of parts and say you meet him and pick them up? Then kindly have a undercover police man around the corner?
This man needs to be stopped.

I hope at some point soon they quit playing patty cake with this pos and lock him up good.
Postal fraud would be a good way to get him

That's why he is requesting funds by Western Union like all scammers from Nigeria.

When you see a transaction request by Western Union, all kinds of ALARMS should go off in your mind!

Google the phone number that is calling you. See two posts (#31) above.

Don't put your phone number or email address in your ads. Most ad sites have a blind email system.

If you get such a response from a blind email system, REPORT IT!

After reading this post i am almost convinced this may be the same guy scamming a good amish friend. He sent an american express m.o. To a guy in somerset pa for $200.00 for an engine part. He never got it and the m.o. Was cashed. That was over a month ago! The phone number he is using is: 724-797-0949. I doubt if my amish friend wants to persue it but i as his friend would like to see this large problem solved for everybody. David babcock.

Bill Stevens is in jail again. I spoke to a fellow who talked to the police there. He hadn't been charged yet, but the police said he's going away for a long time this time. I don't know what he was charged with this time. He is known to be involved in all kinds of bad behavior.

That's too bad :D I was really looking forward to the Breeman Caloric salesman sample hot air engine he was going to sell me for $900 The engine was supposed to be in working order. He was only selling it to me because he had another one I didn't need two. He first offered it to me for $500 and then I told him that wasn't enough then he said $900 and I told him I still would pay more if it was the real thing. He couldn't seem to come up with any pictures though

Well, it looks like Stevens is back in jail, but just like the last time, his accomplices are still at it. We've gotten 4-5 calls since the first of the year from people who've been contacted. The story is always the same. Someone has something really desirable for sale at a good price, they want you to send a money order or wire money to someplace in western Pennsylvania. Then you never hear from them again.
Also, there was a guy working Florida swap meets who would talk to you, find out what you were interested in, and what do you know, he just happens to have what you want at home. And he'll sell it cheap! Just give him half now and send the other half when he ships the part to you. But you never hear from him again. Please be careful out there.

This thread reminds me of another scam. This guy was trying to get investors in his product. He showed pictures of it on youtube. Only problem was all you could see was the front of it with a big spinning wheel. He claimed it would run off of a nine volt battery. I sent him an email telling him I wanted to visit his shop for a closeup look at the thing. Never heard from him again and the youtube video disappeared.
