Transistors?

Hey everyone, I've got my old Endurance 800 watt inverter all in pieces for rebuild but am having some issues with finding Mosfet replacements. Poor thing has been in ruins in a box for 5 years. Seems IRF became part of Infineon Tech in 2015. Argh, Why do these companies gotta keep merging and changing? :mad: Seems IRF640B is one scarce Mosfet? I see plenty available from China, But I am a bit concerned about receiving fakes?

The other Mosfets I need are IRF3205 which seem a little easier to find thank goodness.

The IRF640B seems to cross to Infineon BUZ30AH. Looking at the datasheets, it would appear the BUZ30AH might be a slightly better part than the old IRF640B?

The IRF3205 doesn't seem to cross to a exact Mosfet from Infineon?

for those of us trying to follow along, is this a acurate description?

mosfet= metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistor

Yes, We are talking about the high power kind of Mosfet for a inverter rebuild.

Digikey was out of the first recommendation.

According to Infineon who owns IRF, The IRF640B has been replaced by BUZ30AH. The BUZ30AH is 200v at 21 amps.

Funny enough, Infineon couldn't directly answer my questions about the IRF3205. They don't even have the 3205 in their cross reference search? Infineon claims on their website the IRF3205 is considered obsolete. Digikey shows them as active though? Confusing.

So, Someone a bit more familiar with transistors hopefully can let me know if there is an exact drop in for the IRF3205? I'd prefer 120 amp rating at 60 to 80 volts if possible?

Originally this old inverter had caps rated 3300uf x4. I'm replacing them with 4700uf at 25v caps from Rubycon. The lone 200v 330uf cap has given way to a 470uf at 200v.

How would the IRFP3306PbF compare to the 3205 as a replacement? Infineon recognizes the IRFP3306PbF as an active and preferred Mosfet over the 3205.

I was also looking at maybe the IRF3808 or IRF1405?
