Hope this works, a friend forwarded this video from YouTube. I have not watched the whole thing yet, however only 20 minutes in I was so impressed I felt all of you should know about it.
Hope you enjoy it,
It simply amazes me what work was done "back in the day." And how few tools there were to do it.
We here in New England have literally MILES of stone walls constructed by simple farmers who cleared their fields and apparently with a surplus of time, would actually dig down three feet, prepare a rubble foundation, and then carefully put stones in a line, chinking the edges to prevent the frost from moving them, and then "cap it" with the largest and flattest, the caps frequently interlocking right & left as one would do the teeth of a zipper.
ALL done with strong backs, simple come-alongs, drafts, and time. And they did this and grew enough food to feed themselves too!
