Where can I get Parts for a Boliy?

Last month I picked up a Boliy Pro3600SiE generator for $75 on Craig's List.

It was totally neglected but after a good cleaning and a few small repairs it runs and generates perfectly.
Starts easy using the electric start or recoil and is much lighter than comparable units. The inverter is built in Germany and the unit is built by a Chinese mold company. The packaging is impressive and fairly well thought out.

At the price it's a fantastic generator and I'm very pleased. But most reviews mention parts availability.

Overall it's a pretty nice unit but like everything it's no better than the service and parts availability.

Anyone know where to get parts? I emailed two sellers I found but no response yet.

Re: Where can I get parts for a Boliy?

Hi Joe,

I see that about 120 other people looked at this thread. I have a Boliy generator similar to yours, mine is blue.

I am bumping this with the hope that someone knows where to get parts.
Mine has worked very well for us. It doesn't need any repairs, but knowing where to get parts can be a comfort.

That engine resembles the one on a Cub Cadet garden tiller I use.

Re: Where can I get parts for a Boliy?

Jerry.

Mine is an older one bought in 2010 I paid $75 for it and the yearly maintenance schedule tells you to check the cooling fan:uhoh:

So I removed the end cover, muffler end, 4 screws for the fan cover and found my fan loose on the end of the engine crank shaft:bonk:
The ads for Boliey units seem to say things like latest model or all the improvements or whatever. I would hope they improved the mounting of the cooling fan on your unit.
The thickness of the plastic fan where it bolts to the extension of the crank shaft is about 1/8" thick and the wears badly expeciallt the"flat" key. You can see I put a larger washer I machined down to just fit the inside of the hub. The fan it tight now but I would like to replace it. I found the fan loose on the shaft but the bolt had thread locker on it and was tight. If I can't get one I'll add an extension to the steel extension on the crankshaft and mount the fan using the three holes.
The pictures show the front side of the fan but when you remove the cover you see the back side of the fan.

Ok I got an extra "round tuit" and made a substantial mount for the cooling fan yesterday.
The fan runs true and should not cause any problems in the future.

Since the thread got resurected from 12-2015, I will add another Chinese gen parts supplier. I was trying to locate an ignition module for a Xingyou inverter gen.... they at least took the time to look and answer my emails. https://www.generatorguru.com

Missing 3 digits in that Tx phone number, must be somewhere close to me, but never heard of them. Correct phone# (512)902-3397, website http://www.bottomlinetrading.com/ but no info on where they are:shrug:

Hi all,

Yes, we are reviving an old thread. I am in need of a couple covers for my Boliy. I have contacted the places listed above, they are getting away from the Boliy line and only have a few parts available.

Any new leads on part sources? Are Boliys still being made? Does anyone have a non-runner they are willing sell some parts from ?

Thanks,
Jerry Christiansen

It's an old design and has been around a while.
I'm sure whoever made them is still alive making generators with another name.

Besides their mail order send you the parts to put on warranty is a hassle for those not able to replace them. The one I bought came with a new carburetor, regulator harness and recoil assy. But the seller could not find anyone local who wanted to replace them. It had sat for a couple of years in a damp garage and was a filthy moldy mess. I striiped it down to nothing, gave it a good cleaning, color coded all the connections using colored cable ties and a new battery. After that I read they recommended checking the blower yearly. What a flimsy arrangement that was. See my fix above.

Other then the weight I like it better then my Honda Eu2001 because it's quieter watt for watt.

I, like others, have picked up one of these for cheap.
But mine was supposed to have needed a new AVR. Turns out, it needs an inverter. And I am having zero luck finding where to get one that's even compatible.

So, I've come to this conclusion. Mine runs (and runs very nicely). But with a bad inverter (two of the capacitors exploded). I have two choices.

Find a replacement inverter and make it run again. Or, part it out to someone who wants a running machine.

Anyone interested in either?

PM me, if you want to know more.

I'd like to get some resolution to this. It's a nice machine that I'd like to use. Just no love from the manufacturer or the retailer here locally.

Thanks.
Aron

Unless you can find a used regulator board off one with a bad engine the price of a new one would be prohibitive.

For the price of capacitors, I _might_ be tempted to replace those two and see if it works again. New capacitors can be picked up at digikey or mouser or newark or similar electronics suppliers. Get the same capacitance and same or higher voltage. Need someone who is confident with a soldering iron. While I had it open I would carefully examine the rest of the capacitors and consider replacing any others of the same batch/mfr that might be of similar age and ready to go as well.

It _might_ be a $10 + labour repair. It might not be so easy and cheap if those two capacitors took out other devices when they blew.

There is apoxy around the capacitors and I do not know how to dissolve it to open the inverter up.
