David Bradley Walk Behind Help Identify

Sheeniman

Registered
Hi,
I am a new Smoke Staker. I have acquired the attached walk behind David Bradley. (Please refer to atttached PIC)

Can anybody help me identify the year?
Is it something that is collectible?
Is it worth restoring?
Does it have any value if I decide to sell it?
I appreciate any help, I have just acquired a bunch of old equipment from my grandfathers barn. Thank You for any input!

[1] D.B.started making that style of tractor right after WWII so probably late 1940's. There is a number on a brass tag on the side of the tranny that will help narrow down the year but you won't be able to get it exact.
[2] Yes its collectible. A lot of people collect them - DB's are the most popular 2-wheeler to collect. Millions were made and millions are left.
[3] Looks like its already been restored. Clean it up good, get it running good, and enjoy it.
[4] Sentimental value, since it was grandpa's, is far far far more than any dollar amount that could be placed on it.

Thanks Kris, I will check for the Brass Tag on the side of the tranny and post it.

Does this David Bradley go by any other descriptive name?

This is one of the items that I will most likely have to sell due to storage issues, however it is one of the nicest condition items that I was given. The tires do not show any signs of dry rot. What do you think a fair market price would be, for me to start out with?

I still have to check if it even runs... I think it was put away running, but not sure how long ago. Might end up being a big project...

I believe the Super Power model dates to about 1957-58. Here is a 1958 catalog page. The stylish hoods accommodated only smaller horsepower engines, so Sears was moving to higher horsepower models without hoods. The Super Power models are more rare and more desirable than the earlier 1.75 HP models. Same for the Suburban and Super 300 models.

Buy or make a sulky for it, and drive the kids/grandkids around. Keep it until they are big enough to drive it themselves.

Dad and i have about 15, and almost every piece of equipment.

Even have one of the first ones with the hanging cultivators.

I have two original DB Super Power tractors and they're both 1951 models with a B&S model 8 'early' engine. They were designated "Super Power" because they had 1/3 more hp than the previous model. New engine was rated at 2 1/4 hp if I recall correctly. Previous engine I think could either be a model N Briggs or a Continental.

Looks to be a 917.57560 (Briggs Engine) or 917.57561 (Continental engine) 1950-51ish. Looks to have at least the harder to find part of the wagon/sulky/roller hitch. Market varies on these, $2-400 tops, hitch $75-100ish

I just bought one with two attachments and running. For 200 with a newer motor. So have to get a tank and move exhaust pipe were post to go. But I can't find them in my state. This one is 4 hrs away. Great gift if you ask me.

I’ve got a Briggs Model U. I think it came off a DB or a Sears Handy Man. Not sure which, I’m leaning towards the Handy Man.

I’m posting some pictures of my model U and some pics found online of a model U on tractors.

Man thank you for posting those pictures of the carb and motor. I wonder if I made the intake for the down draft carb that you can pick up off flee bay or amazon. If that would work and let me use the hood after making the exshaust .
